With more than 120 colleagues worldwide, we design and produce high-end solar simulators for the global solar energy sector. They are used by the world’s largest manufacturers of solar panels and leading R&D laboratories to ensure the quality of their panels. We ensure that they can be confident in what they produce. We are precise, resourceful and persistent. Solar energy is growing rapidly worldwide and is now even expanding strongly into the space industry! To support this growth, we want to expand our team with a PLC Engineer.
What you will do:
Examples of a working day as a Control Systems (PLC) Engineer:
Designing new functionalities and further developing existing systems in the PLC of our solar simulators
Collaborating with software engineers to design a user-friendly HMI for controlling the machines
Providing support (remote or on-site) to the service team and customers during commissioning, updates and PLC troubleshooting
Testing the control system and solving issues together with technicians in our production environment
Travelling to a customer to install a new solar simulator (only if you enjoy doing this)
The main responsibilities are designing, programming/configuring, testing, debugging and commissioning control applications for our solar simulators.
Requirements
Developing control systems
Hands-on work with our solar simulators
Solving problems and understanding how the solar simulators are used
Learning new things and being inventive
Working with an international team of colleagues and customers
What you bring:
More than 5 years of experience as a PLC engineer
Experience with Beckhoff (TwinCAT) or Allen-Bradley or Siemens. Experience with programming in ST (Structured Text) / OOP (Object-Oriented Programming)
Basic knowledge of electrical measurement/troubleshooting
Ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish within your discipline
Aligning priorities with management, customer service and sales teams
One or more of the following skills are a plus:
More than 10 years of experience as a PLC engineer
Experience in a lead engineer role, including managing junior developers
Experience designing control cabinets and drawing electrical schematics
Experience with wiring, testing and troubleshooting electrical systems
Experience with various automation protocols, for example OPC, Modbus
Experience designing control systems in a production environment
Experience with HMI UI design
Experience with structured troubleshooting
